Website Design for Accountants
Most people choosing an accountant are slightly embarrassed. They've left the return late, or the bookkeeping is a shoebox, or they've just gone from sole trader to company and don't know what that means. They're looking for somebody who won't make them feel worse about it.
That's a tone problem more than a design problem, and it's the thing most accounting websites get wrong. They read like a compliance document. Yours doesn't have to.
What's included
Five pages, written in plain English, live by day five:
- A home page that says who you work with, individuals, sole traders, small companies, and what it costs to start.
- A page for each service: individual returns, BAS and payroll, year-end, bookkeeping. So somebody searching "BAS agent near me" lands on the BAS page.
- An about page with your registration, your team, and how you actually work with clients.
- A page for fees, which almost nobody in your field publishes.
- A contact page with your number, your address and one tap to call.
Plus an email address on your own domain, opening hours that show your evening appointments, and a dashboard where you update fees yourself. Or text us and it's done the same day.
Hosting, backups and security are free for two months, then $5 a month.
Why it matters for accountants
Fixed fees are your best marketing and they're usually invisible. If you agree the price before you start, that is the single most reassuring thing you can tell somebody who has been stung by an hourly bill. Put a number on the page. "From $180" wins more work than "contact us for a quote".
Trust is the product. Registered tax agent status, your professional body, how long you've been going, these belong above the fold, not on a page nobody reaches.
Your busy season is a search season. People look for an accountant in a rush, at particular times of year, on their phone, at night. A site that loads fast and answers "what does a return cost" is doing sales work while you're asleep.
Plain English is a differentiator. If you explain things without jargon, say so and then prove it by writing the site that way. We'll draft it from what you tell us and you can correct the technical bits. That's the part you should be fussy about.
