Up By Five builds websites for local businesses. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to make us delete it. It is written to match what the site actually does rather than to cover us for things we do not do.

The preview builder collects nothing

Everything in the builder on our home page happens inside your own browser. When you pick a trade, choose a colour, or upload a logo, that file is read and resized on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. If you close the tab without submitting the form, nothing you did reaches us at all. There is one exception, which is the next section.

Checking a website you already have

In the rebuild section you can type the address of a site you already own and ask us to take a quick look. That address is sent to our server, which requests that page once and measures two things: how long it took to answer and how large it is. We read only what a browser would read on a single page, we do not sign in anywhere, and we do not store a copy of the site.

The address stays in the enquiry form so you do not have to type it twice, and it reaches us only if you go on to submit the form. If you close the tab instead, the check leaves nothing behind beyond the ordinary server log described below. Please only check a site you own or are responsible for.

What we collect when you send us your preview

Only when you fill in and submit the enquiry form, we receive:

We use this for one purpose: to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to build your website. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.

Where it goes

Enquiries are delivered to our own inbox by our email provider. Our site is hosted by our hosting provider, which processes standard server logs including IP addresses for security and reliability. Both act as processors on our behalf and may store data outside your country.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within 12 months. If you become a customer, we keep the project material for as long as we host your site and for seven years afterwards where tax or accounting law requires it.

Cookies

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no third-party analytics on this site. That is why you were not asked to accept a cookie banner.

There is one cookie. It holds the two-letter code for the country your connection appears to be in, so the prices on our page are shown in the band for where you trade rather than defaulting to ours. It identifies nobody, it is not shared, and changing the country yourself in the quote overrides it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing or complain to a data protection authority. Email hello@upbyfive.com and we will action it within 30 days. There is no charge.

Children

This site is for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will be emailed.
